Jeff Currie is Founder and CEO of Real Macro, Co-Founder and Director of 1947 Oil & Gas, Senior Advisor to The Carlyle Group, Chair of the Advisory Group at the University of Chicago's Energy Policy Institute (EPIC), a member of the Advisory Group at the University of Chicago's Institute for Climate and Sustainable Growth, Non-Executive Director of Abaxx Technologies, Non-Executive Director of Energy Aspects, and Director of Borr Drilling.

Widely regarded as one of the world's leading commodities analysts, he spent nearly three decades at Goldman Sachs, where he founded and led the firm's global commodities research division. He became a Partner in 2008 and established himself as one of Wall Street's most influential and frequently quoted voices on oil, metals and energy markets.

From 2024 to 2026, Currie served as Chief Strategy Officer of Energy Pathways at The Carlyle Group, where he focused on commodity market trends and investment opportunities across energy markets. He continues to serve as a Senior Advisor to the firm.

Jeff has a track record of making early, high-conviction calls that have moved markets. He correctly forecast the commodity supercycle of the 2000s and oil above $100 a barrel. He called oil's "lower for longer" trajectory during the US shale revolution. He identified a new commodities supercycle in late 2020, coined "the revenge of the old economy".

Jeff holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago and is Chair of the Advisory Group at the University of Chicago's Energy Policy Institute (EPIC) and a member of the Advisory Group at the University of Chicago's Institute for Climate and Sustainable Growth.
